Asterisk GTM

This Privacy Statement explains how Asterisk (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a marketing agency and consultancy, collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, get in touch through our contact forms, or otherwise interact with us. We’ve tried to write this in plain language so you can understand what we do with your information and the choices you have.

If you don’t want us to handle your information as described here, please don’t use the site. If you’re a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights described in the Your Rights section below.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you fill out a contact or inquiry form, subscribe to a newsletter, or otherwise reach out to us, you may share information such as:

  • Your name

  • Your email address and, if you provide it, phone number

  • The company or organization you represent

  • The content of your message and any details you choose to include about your project or inquiry

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we collect certain information automatically when you visit, including:

  • IP address and approximate location (typically city or region level)

  • Device and browser type, operating system, and screen size

  • Referring URL and the pages you view on our site

  • Date, time, and duration of your visit

  • Information collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies and Tracking below)

Information from third parties

We may receive limited information about you from advertising and analytics partners (for example, aggregated audience or campaign performance data) and from publicly available sources such as a company website or LinkedIn profile when we’re evaluating a potential business relationship.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries and provide the services you’ve asked us about

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our website and our services

  • Send you marketing communications about our work, case studies, or events — only where we’re permitted to do so, and you can unsubscribe at any time

  • Measure how people find and use our site so we can make it better

  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse

  • Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms

Legal bases (EEA/UK users): We process your information based on (i) your consent (for marketing emails and non-essential cookies), (ii) our legitimate interests in operating and promoting our business, (iii) the performance of a contract when we’re providing services to you, and (iv) compliance with legal obligations.

3. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it’s used, and run our marketing. The categories below describe what they do:

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function (for example, remembering your cookie preferences). These can’t be turned off.

  • Analytics. Help us understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. We use providers such as Google Analytics; these tools aggregate visitor data and may set their own cookies.

  • Marketing and advertising. Allow us and our partners to measure the performance of our marketing and to show you relevant ads on other platforms. This may include pixels and tags from providers such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, and Google Ads.

Your choices. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your preferences at any time using the cookie banner or your browser settings. You can also opt out of personalized advertising through industry tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org), the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info), and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (youronlinechoices.eu).

4. How we share information

We don’t sell your personal information for money. We do share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host our site, send email, run analytics, and deliver marketing campaigns. These providers are only allowed to use your information to perform services for us.

  • Advertising partners. When you consent to marketing cookies, certain identifiers may be shared with advertising platforms (such as Meta, LinkedIn, and Google) to measure or target campaigns. Under California law, this kind of activity may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising — you can opt out at any time (see Your Rights below).

  • Professional advisors. Lawyers, accountants, and similar advisors who help us run the business.

  • Legal and safety. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or protect the safety of others.

  • Business transfers. If Asterisk is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this statement — for example, to respond to your inquiry, maintain our business records, or comply with legal obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete it or anonymize it.

6. International data transfers

Asterisk is based in the United States, and our service providers may operate elsewhere. If you’re visiting from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that have different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information when it’s transferred internationally.

7. Your rights
